Landscape Project Manager

Sodfather, Inc. is currently searching for someone to fill a Landscape Project Manager position. The duties of the Landscape Project Manager for Sodfather, Inc. (the Company) include overall management of assigned projects from contract acceptance through final payment. One must establish the job requirements with the assigned Supervisor and monitor job performance. This includes recommending or taking action to solve any problems that will delay the completion date or that would result in poor quality. To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to complete all areas outlined for this position in a satisfactory manner.

  1. Basic Requirements

    1. Valid Drivers' License
    2. Education
      1. Required: High School diploma or equivalent
      2. Preferred: College degree in business, construction management, horticulture or a related field
    3. Experience
      1. Required: Five or more years experience as a Project Manager in a landscape construction environment with a minimum of $500,000 in annual sales.
      2. Preferred: Same as above with responsibility for project profitability.
    4. Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities
      1. Ability to guide, direct, and coordinate activities on the job site, as well as respond to common inquires or complaints from customers.
      2. Excellent knowledge of the landscaping industry and trends impacting its business.
      3. Must have the skills and knowledge to keep all lines of communication open within the office and from external sources. Ability to work well with other employees.
      4. Demonstrated ability to effectively run a profitable project and remain within established budgetary guidelines.
      5. This position must have the ability to comprehend construction plans and to convey instruction in a clear manner to the Crew Supervisor.
      6. Basic computer skills are required to enter data onto spreadsheets, as well as keeping records in our system. Must be familiar with email as a primary means of communication.
  2. Physical Requirements and Working Conditions
    1. The physical requirements for this position are, at times rough and vigorous. The job requires the Project Manager to function as a field technician at times to assure the Operations Manager that the assigned projects are progressing as scheduled and all corporate quality standards are being met.
    2. During all job phases the Project Manager must work alongside, inspect, observe, and direct others, in performing their tasks.
  3. Essential Functions, Duties, and Tasks
    1. Plans and coordinates the timely and profitable completion of all projects. Including monitoring costs for each job and ensuring that actual costs for labor materials are within the projected budget for each job.
    2. Attend scheduled meetings with customers, general contractors, and architects. Must be able to represent the company in a professional manner both on and off the job site.
    3. Directs Crew Supervisors to make certain that all aspects of a given job are completed as specified by the customer or General Contractor.
    4. Responsible for the timely purchase of all materials and supplies required on each job site. This includes completing accurately all purchasing forms to ensure that all materials are properly charged to specific jobs.
    5. Prepares daily work schedules and crew assignments through coordination with the Operations Manager.
    6. Produces and maintains accurate and timely records of each project, as well as visiting all job sites regularly to visually confirm job conditions.
    7. Maintains the position as the single individual responsible for the successful completion of the assigned project
